Protect Your Trees
Act Now
Our Coalition is pleased to announce that we have just launched a proactive initiative to help our neighbors deal with the devastating bark beetle that is near epidemic levels threatening Douglas Fir trees in the Chain of Lakes.
Funded by a generous grant from a philanthropic non-government foundation, the Thompson Chain of Lakes Stewardship Coalition is offering residents a no-cost no-obligation treatment that has proven highly effective at preventing the spread of the destructive Douglas Fir bark beetle. These tiny but mighty insects, if left unchecked, can quickly infest and kill off entire stands of trees, drastically altering the landscape and creating a wildfire hazard. You may have noticed all the bright orange trees that have died along highway 2.
This grant is time sensitive; packets must be ordered by mid-February to assure spring treatment. MCH packets must be attached before the beetles fly, generally by mid-April. Scroll on to complete the form.

Great news! You can now add your name to our list for a no cost and no obligation Douglas Fir Bark Beetle treatment. Donate
By donating to the Thompson Chain of Lakes Stewardship Coalition, you are helping to protect and conserve the beauty and natural resources of the Thompson Chain of Lakes for now and future generations. Your tax-deductible donation will make a meaningful impact on the preservation of this precious resource.
Our strength lies not only in the words we stand by, but most importantly in our actions. From the moment we came together, we understood that by working with each other and being well-informed, we could influence and even overcome emerging issues that affect the public health and safety of our rural community. The majority of members have deep generational roots in this area. That is why over a hundred landowners of the Thompson Chain of Lakes decided to form a 501(c)3 in August of 2022. We strive to make a positive difference in the protection and conservation of the land and water of this area we all love.
Resources
This document explains the very real and present concerns our Stewardship Coalition has for this primitive landscape....because when the lakes are no longer healthy, there will be little left of "the inherent quality and values" of this very special area.
